Decker Jones Senior Associate Leslie Hunt Selected 2011 Outstanding Young Lawyer
FORT WORTH, Texas – Leslie L. Hunt, a senior associate with Decker Jones McMackin McClane Hall & Bates, P.C., has been named the 2011 Outstanding Young Lawyer of Fort Worth and Tarrant County by the Fort Worth-Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association (FW-TCYLA). She will be honored by the Tarrant County Bar Association (TCBA) at its Law Day award dinner May 5, 2011.
The Outstanding Young Lawyer award recognizes a young lawyer (age 36 or younger) who demonstrates professional proficiency, service to the profession and service to the community. It is voted on by past presidents of the FW-TCYLA and the honoree will be considered for the statewide Outstanding Young Lawyer of Texas award, which will be announced during the State Bar of Texas convention June 23-24 in San Antonio.
“We’re extremely pleased to see Leslie honored in this way by the Tarrant County Bar,” said Decker Jones managing partner Chuck Milliken. “Leslie is certainly a fine attorney and an outstanding member of this community.”
Hunt joined Decker Jones in 2004 after having graduated from Baylor Law School where she was the recipient of the Loy M. Simpkins Award for Excellence in Marital Property Studies and where she served on the Order of the Barristers. Hunt’s primary practice areas include commercial litigation, employment litigation, probate litigation and estate planning.
“It is quite an honor to be selected to receive this award when you consider Fort Worth and Tarrant County have so many wonderful attorneys who are talented and community minded,” Hunt said. “I am certain that several others were deserving of this award, which makes my selection even more humbling.”
Hunt served as President of the FW-TCYLA in 2008-09 and has continued to be involved with the bar association, most recently having served as chair of the Books and Bears Committee for 2010-2011. Previously, Hunt has been recognized repeatedly as a “Texas Rising Star” by Texas Super Lawyers and a Tarrant County “Top Attorney” by Fort Worth, Texas magazine.
She also is active in community service organizations in Fort Worth. She is a member of the Junior League of Fort Worth, where she serves as chair of the Advisory Planning/Bylaws committee, and for the past two years she has served as co-chair of the Sweethearts Dessert Fantasy annual fundraiser for the Lena Pope Home.
Other honorees who will be recognized at the May 5 Law Day dinner are Joe Shannon, Jr., Blackstone Award winner; Judge Jean Boyd, Silver Gavel Award; and Marvin Collins, Professionalism Award.
