Decker Jones Shareholder Matthew L. Motes Named Chair of Bar’s Construction Law Section

Fort Worth, TX – Matthew L. Motes, a Shareholder with Decker, Jones, McMackin, McClane, Hall & Bates, P.C., has been appointed Chair of the Construction Law Section of the Tarrant County Bar Association for 2014-2015. He served as Vice Chair for 2013-14.

“This year, one of my focuses is to get sponsorships from non-attorneys, such as expert venders,” Motes said. “They can belong to the Section as associate members. Another is attracting in-house counsel, especially those in Tarrant County.”

The mission of the Construction Law Section is:
• To improve communication and the practice of law in Tarrant County in related areas of construction law;
• To develop a forum for discussion of construction law issues among lawyers;
• To inform non-section members of the Tarrant County Bar Association about construction topics of interest through the sponsoring of seminars and the use of other methods; and
• To develop a forum at which construction law specialists may speak in Tarrant County.
Motes’ practice focuses on trial and arbitration of construction law, commercial litigation and real estate matters. He represents general contractors, home builders, subcontractors, suppliers, developers and building owners across Texas in construction defect disputes, contract negotiations, mechanic’s lien claims and governmental compliance issues.

Motes earned a Bachelor’s degree from Southwestern University and his juris doctor from South Texas College of Law.
