Recent Baylor University School of Law Graduate Joins Decker Jones as an Associate Attorney.

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oct. 19, 2023 – Decker Jones, P.C. proudly welcomes Kiala Ellingson, a top graduate of Baylor University School of Law’s class of July 2023, to its team as an associate attorney.

Ellingson interned with the full-service, Fort Worth-based firm during summer 2022, assisting the attorneys in various practice areas and conducting legal research. At Baylor, she graduated magna cum laude and garnered widespread recognition for her achievements in moot court, including awards for speaking, writing briefs, and expertise in appellate procedure.

Before joining Decker Jones, Ellingson served as a judicial intern for the U.S. District Court in the Western District of Texas, where she conducted legal research and drafted memoranda. Additionally, she held the position of administrative assistant to the managing partner at Cirrus Law, P.C. for a year and a half. In this capacity, she not only managed administrative tasks but also drafted legal pleadings, discovery documents, and more.

Ellingson, a musician with a background in health science, is interested in not only litigation but also patent law and intellectual property (IP).  She participated in Baylor’s IP clinic and assisted emerging entrepreneurs in obtaining requisite legal documentation for cutting-edge biomedical technology. She is a pianist and received professional vocal training from the Portland Opera.

“I look forward to merging my interests in science, music, and the law as an attorney at Decker Jones,” said Ellingson. “With the growth in technology, IP and patent law are hot topics and I am excited to see how new developments in these fields continue to expand lawyers’ roles in shaping the future.”
